There is no sin too great, no distance too far, and no heart too broken for God’s redeeming love.
Contents
From the very beginning, God has loved us with an everlasting love. He created us in His own image (Genesis 1:27), blessing us to be fruitful and to walk in fellowship with Him. Yet, it is our sinful actions that often push God away. Sin creates a barrier, distancing us from His presence. But even in our rebellion, God’s mercy never ceases. He continually calls us to return to Him, for He delights in the company of His children. As Psalm 149:4 reminds us, “For the Lord takes pleasure in His people; He adorns the humble with salvation.”
God’s love for us is so profound that He gave His only Son, Jesus Christ, to reconcile us to Himself. John 3:16 declares, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” Jesus left the glory of heaven to walk among us, to bear our sins, and to offer us eternal life. Even now, the Holy Spirit dwells within us, ready to guide, comfort, and lead us back to the Father.
There is no sin too great, no distance too far, and no heart too broken for God’s redeeming love. In Luke 15:7, Jesus says, “I tell you that in the same way, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance.” Imagine the celebration in heaven when you turn back to God! He desires you more than you can comprehend.
The Prodigal Son: A Story of Return
In Luke 15:11-32, Jesus tells the parable of the prodigal son. A young man takes his inheritance, leaves his father, and squanders everything in reckless living. When he hits rock bottom, he decides to return home, expecting rejection. But his father sees him from afar, runs to him, embraces him, and throws a feast to celebrate his return. This is how God responds when we come back to Him—with open arms, joy, and unconditional love.
God’s Invitation to Draw Near
James 4:8 assures us, “Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.” God is not distant or indifferent; He longs for intimacy with you. Whether you are troubled, sad, or joyful, He invites you to bring everything to Him. Psalm 34:18 says, “The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.” No matter where you are in life, it is never too late to return to Him.
A Jealous God Who Desires Your Heart
Exodus 34:14 reminds us, “For the Lord, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God.” He desires your whole heart, not divided affections. The world may offer temporary pleasures, but only God can satisfy the deepest longings of your soul. As Augustine once said, “You have made us for Yourself, O Lord, and our hearts are restless until they rest in You.”
Reflective Questions
- Do you enjoy God’s company? Do you seek Him in prayer, worship, and His Word?
- What is preventing you from being in God’s presence? Is it sin, distractions, or misplaced priorities?
- Are you willing to return to God today, trusting in His mercy and love?
A Call to Action
God is waiting for you with open arms. Come to Him in repentance, faith, and surrender. Isaiah 55:7 says, “Let the wicked forsake their ways and the unrighteous their thoughts. Let them turn to the Lord, and He will have mercy on them, and to our God, for He will freely pardon.”
Never take God’s love for granted. Never let complacency steal your passion for Him. Your relationship with God is the greatest treasure you will ever possess. Come back to Him, for He enjoys your company more than you can imagine.

A Prayer
Heavenly Father,
I come before You today, humbled by Your love and mercy. I acknowledge that I have strayed from Your presence, allowing sin and distractions to create distance between us. Forgive me, Lord, for the times I have prioritized the world over You.
Thank You for Your unending love, for sending Your Son, Jesus, to redeem me, and for the Holy Spirit who guides me back to You. I surrender my heart to You today, Lord. Take away anything that keeps me from drawing near to You.
Help me to seek You in every moment—in my joys, my struggles, and my everyday life. Restore the joy of Your salvation in me, and let my heart find its rest in You alone.
Thank You for welcoming me back with open arms, just as the father welcomed the prodigal son. I am Yours, Lord, and I desire to walk in fellowship with You all the days of my life.
In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
