Accepting Jesus Christ into your life is the best decision you can ever make. Getting means becoming part soldiers of Christ. However, getting saved doesn’t mean the absence of trouble.
Many people believe or have been told that when they get saved, their troubles will completely disappear and will have a roller-coaster life. This is not true. The battles don’t stop; they are only beginning.
Getting saved makes us Soldiers of Christ ready to fight evil. But don’t be scared because this time, you have everything required to win any battle that comes your way by the power of Jesus Christ. Jesus says, “In this world, you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)
We Are Soldiers of Christ
When you accept Jesus Christ, you immediately become a soldier for Christ. You wage a war against the devil and the evil forces of the world. Ephesians 6:12 states, “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”
The good news is that as Christians, we are already victors even before the battles have begun. We fight from a point of victory. Jesus defeated the devil a long time ago when He died for your sins and took the power of death from the devil. We fight to secure our victory, not to win because in Christ, we have already won, we are more than conquerors and we are Soldiers of Christ.
God prepares us for battle
God does not deliver you from battles but trains you for them. He delivered you from sin and you now among the Soldiers of Christ. He trains you for battle and gives you the necessary weapons to engage and win. The Lord even fights the battle for you and with you.
God delivered the Israelites from the bondage of Egypt, but when the time came for them to possess the promised land, they had to engage in many battles.
He did not take the battles away from them. He trained them, guided them, and fought for them. Don’t worry; God will train you for battles and will fight for you.
We fight from victory
As Christians, we don’t fight for victory; we fight from victory. God had already promised Abraham a nation before the Israelites were in Egypt. This means it was already part of God’s plan to deliver the Israelites from Egypt and possess the promised land. Their deliverance from Egypt and victory over the nations that previously occupied the promised land had already assured. However, this did not stop them from engaging in battle.
Those with little faith did not claim their victory and died in the wilderness because they feared to battle the giants previously occupying the promised land. Those with faith in God, led by Joshua, were able to conquer the promised land. Remember, they only possessed what they fought for. What had been promised to them and never fought for, they did not possess. Throughout the entire process, God was with them and fought for them. This is a clear demonstration of being Soldiers of Christ.
A defeated devil
It had already planned by God for Jesus to bring salvation to us even before the earth was created. Even before Jesus was born into this physical world, many prophets had already prophesied His victory over evil.
This did not stop Jesus from battling the devil. Jesus had to fight the devil and defeat him for us to receive the salvation we enjoy today. This shows that as Christians, we must be soldiers who are always ready to battle the devil.
The devil knows he was defeated long ago but is stubborn and keeps fighting. He knew very well that he could not stand against Jesus but kept trying. We must always be vigilant and on guard, ready to fight evil as it tries to manifest in many forms in our lives.
In soccer, teams at the brink of relegation can sometimes be tough opponents. They don’t have any prospects of winning the trophy but can stage upsets to teams in a position to win the league.
The devil was defeated but can stage upsets if you are not vigilant. Teams that eventually win the trophy never underestimate any team, no matter how weak. They just play to win. We are a winning team through Christ our Lord and Savior.
We are a superpower Christ’s nation
What makes any nation a superpower is its ability to engage in and win battles. This doesn’t mean such nations won’t face battles because of their superpower status. In fact, they even have more enemies than other nations. However, when faced with wars or challenges, they can win and always win.
The United States of America is a superpower but still engages in battles. Enemies still attack it despite being a powerful nation. The only difference is it has the power to wage war and defeat the enemies that attack. Most of its enemies arise because of its superpower status.
When you accept Jesus Christ into your life, you become part of the superpower nation of Christians. This makes the devil your enemy, and you have to be ready to battle him. Previously, you were not his enemy; you lived a life just as the devil wanted.
Now, you are his enemy. But don’t worry; through Jesus Christ, we have won the battle. As Christians, we are a superpower nation through Christ our Lord. Our enemies will bring battles, but through Christ, we shall always win.
More than conquerors
Battles in your life may manifest in various ways such as financial troubles, addictions, unemployment, difficulties in marriage, studies, and many other trials. Do not worry; God will fight for you because the battle belongs to the Lord. Problems may keep coming, but the Lord will enable you to overcome them, and many will come to Christ because of your victory and testimonies.
That’s why Apostle Paul calls us more than conquerors (Romans 8:37). You cannot be a conqueror before you have faced a battle. A conqueror has the victory after a battle. When you overcome the troubles and challenges that come your way, you receive the honor of being a conqueror.

The battle belongs to the Lord
The nation of Israel became feared because of the battles it had won. Even demons knew Paul because of the spiritual battles he had fought. But remember, as Christians, we are not the ones fighting; God fights for us. The enemies know very well who fights for us Christians, but sometimes we forget and begin battling on our own.
The enemies of Israel from the beginning knew that the Israelites were not on their own; their Lord was fighting for them. Pharaoh knew clearly that Moses was not the one causing the troubles but the God of Israel.
The devil knows very well that God is ready to fight for us. He tries to create the impression that we are on our own, wanting us to give up and not call upon our Lord to fight our battles.
Every conqueror gets the victory after a battle. But we have victory before the battle. In Christ, we are more than conquerors. “Therefore, put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.” (Ephesians 6:11)
I conclude with Plasms 34:19 saying, “The righteous person may have many troubles, but the LORD delivers him from them all.”
