In life, we often find ourselves fixated on the circumstances surrounding us. We focus on issues related to finances, relationships, health, and other challenges. These troubles can consume us, leading us to lose focus on Jesus. Instead of glorifying God, we inadvertently glorify the situations around us.
Contents
This perspective must change. We need to focus our attention on Jesus Christ, our Lord, Savior, and Provider. Jesus has promised to sustain and provide for us. As Philippians 4:19 emphasizes, “And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.”
God is not like man, who lies and changes; what He has promised, He can do and is still doing. The Bible reminds us that “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever” (Hebrews 13:8).
Trust in God’s Provision
In Luke 12:22, Jesus advises His disciples, “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear.” God sustains us in countless unseen ways, yet we often focus on temporary situations.
Your current struggles—whether in relationships, health, or finances—are temporary. As Ecclesiastes 3:1 reminds us, “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.”
God’s love, mercy, and provision are eternal. Do not focus on what will fade away in seconds, hours, days, or years. Instead, trust in God and focus on Jesus to guide you through your current challenges. Trusting in God helps you walk amidst the storms around you.
The importance of focusing on Jesus
2 Corinthians 4:18 encourages us, “So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” Our Lord can provide for you; all you need is faith and prayer. Nothing is impossible for Him. Don’t focus on your problems; fix your eyes on Jesus.
Consider the story of Peter walking on water (Matthew 14:22-33). When Peter kept his eyes on Jesus, he was able to walk on water. However, when he focused on the surrounding storm, he began to sink. This story teaches us the importance of keeping our focus on Jesus, especially during life’s storms.
The Parable of the Sower and Worldly Worries
In the Parable of the Sower, Jesus explains how worries about life and the desire for wealth can choke God’s message, preventing it from bearing fruit (Mark 4:18-19). You will not bear the fruits of the Holy Spirit if you focus solely on your circumstances. Always keep your focus on Jesus to bear spiritual fruit.
Even when you feel like you are sinking, it’s never too late to call upon Jesus. When Peter began to sink, he called out to Jesus, who immediately saved him. Similarly, in times of distress, call upon Jesus and He will rescue you.

Prayer
Father in Heaven, I thank You for the gift of life. Thank You for always providing for my needs. I ask for Your forgiveness for the times I have focused on worldly troubles instead of Your kingdom. Forgive me for the times I have been blind to the many blessings You have given me, focusing instead on what I lack. I seek Your Holy Spirit to be my guide, strength, and shield. Amen.
