Our Lord is Mighty and Powerful, the Lord of Miracles. From nothing, He created the entire universe through the power of His word—a truly miraculous feat. God has raised the dead, healed the sick, given sight to the blind, and continues to perform miracles in countless ways. However, it is crucial to remember that while Jesus Christ is indeed the Lord of miracles, we need faith beyond miracles to serve him.
The Pursuit of Miracles
Some people limit their understanding and belief in God to witnessing miracles in their lives or the lives of others. This leads them to move from church to church or pastor to pastor, seeking miracles. Unfortunately, this pursuit can lead them astray, sometimes into the hands of false prophets who stage fake miracles to attract followers.
The Danger of Relying on Miracles
Many Christians have given up on Jesus because they haven’t seen miracles in their lives. As Christians, we must understand that while our Lord is a God of miracles, He is not limited to them. God is present in our lives, whether we witness miracles or not. Our focus should be on knowing God, following His commands, and worshiping Him.
Faith Beyond Miracles
Our faith and salvation should not be based on miracles. Do not wait for a miracle to believe in God or to accept Jesus Christ into your life. Even during the time of the Israelites, God performed numerous miracles, such as the plagues in Egypt, parting the Red Sea, and providing manna from heaven. Yet, despite these miracles, many Israelites complained and worshiped idols, showing that miracles alone do not sustain faith.
The Pharisees witnessed many of Jesus’ miracles, such as healing the sick and raising the dead, but they still did not believe in Him. They even accused Him of using the devil’s power to perform miracles. In John 6:30, after Jesus fed five thousand people with five loaves and two fish, they still asked, “What miracle will you perform so that we may see it and believe in you?”
Not All Miracles Are From God
It’s important to discern that not all miracles are from God. In Exodus, when Moses turned his staff into a snake, Pharaoh’s magicians did the same. We must seek the Holy Spirit’s guidance to discern the source of miracles. As seen in Acts 16:16-18, Paul, through the Holy Spirit, recognized that a girl who foretold the future was possessed by a spirit, not by God, and he cast it out.
Rejoice in the Lord, Not Just Miracles
Your happiness should not be dependent on witnessing miracles. God’s love for us is evident in the sacrifice of His Son, Jesus Christ, for our salvation. Strengthen your faith by reading God’s Word and allowing the Holy Spirit to lead your life. Philippians 4:4 encourages us to “Rejoice in the Lord always,” regardless of our circumstances. The Apostle Paul, despite being persecuted, always rejoiced in the Lord.

Recognizing Everyday Miracles
Many miracles happen in our lives daily, but we often overlook them, focusing instead on our worries. Being alive, healthy, having a family, a job, and the ability to walk, talk, see, hear, and feel are miracles that others may be praying for. We should always be grateful, as 1 Chronicles 16:34 says, “Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His love endures forever.”
Believe in Jesus, Not Just Miracles
Our faith should be rooted in Jesus Christ, not just in the miracles we see. He is with us in all situations, working in ways we may not always understand or recognize.
Reflections:
- Are you seeking God or merely His miracles?
- How can you deepen your relationship with God beyond the desire for miracles?
